General Motors Results Beat Analysts’ Expectations (NYSE: GM)
Earnings at General Motors easily topped forecasts in the second quarter, even as they fell sharply due to the economic conditions in Europe. The company reported that profits were down 41% from a year ago to $1.5 billion, or $0.90 a share, a figure higher than the $0.74 a share that analysts were expecting. Electronic Arts Sees Profit Decline (NASDAQ: EA)
Electronic Arts reported that its first-quarter earnings fell 9% and reported a loss on an operating basis. The company posted overall revenue of $491 million for the three months ended June 30, compared with $524 million in the same period a year ago. Libya Gets First U.S. Franchise In Cinnabon
Cinnabon is the first U.S. franchise to enter Libya. The company opened a bakery-cafe in downtown Tripoli on July 2. The company is also looking to build franchises in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, said Mike Shattuck, president of Focus Brands International, parent company of Cinnabon.
